Please be sure to read about our studio and KEEP THIS FOR REFERENCE. These are the policies as of today. There will be updates to these policies as needed throughout the year. We will email you with any changes. Please be sure to check your email daily.
- Dance lessons begin the week of September 16th.
- Formal class attire: (examples on website) The Dance Closet will have a selection of dancewear available at our shoe fitting days and through the year.
- All classes require proper shoes. Styles and prices are listed on back page. For uniformity at performance time, you will need to purchase dance shoes from us.
- Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Ballet Technique for jazz: leotard, tights, hair secured. Ballet skirt or dance shorts are acceptable, no pants.
- Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobats, Baby Stars, Chance to Dance: leotard, tights, hair secured. Jazz pants, dance shorts over leotard are acceptable.
- Boys’ attire: dance pants, shorts or sweatpants and t-shirt.
- No baggy clothing allowed. Students who arrive unprepared will be asked to sit out. During winter months, students may wear a sweater until they have warmed up.
- ABSOLUTELY NO STREET CLOTHES OR STREET SHOES WILL BE ALLOWED IN ANY DANCE CLASS.
- Attendance: Good attendance is appreciated but there will be grace if you are not feeling well. If you decide to discontinue your lesson, please email or leave a message at the studio.
- Visiting days: We will be offering two opportunities to come in and visit the last 20 minutes of class. To keep the number of people in the studio to a manageable size, we will be asking that only ONE parent come to visit, and that you make other arrangements for younger siblings. We want to have you share in your dancer’s progress and this is what we feel is the best plan. You are welcome to video so you can share with other family members and help your dancer practice at home! We reserve the right to cancel the visiting days if we feel necessary. Visiting days will be the week Nov 18-21 and Feb 3-6.
- Holiday schedule: Make note of these dates, as there will not be any further notices sent home, we do not go with any schools. Any miscellaneous days off from school do not indicate a day off from dance.
- Halloween: No lessons Oct 31
- Thanksgiving: No lessons Nov 28
- Christmas: No lessons Dec. 20-Jan. 5 (back Jan. 6)
- Spring break: No lessons March 21-30
- Winter weather cancellations: We do not go with any schools. If weather is questionable, call the studio after 2:30 pm. If there is no mention of cancellation, lessons will meet as usual.
- All students should be ready to begin dancing at the designated time and be picked up promptly at the end of class. Parents are welcome to come inside the studio to drop off and pick up dancers but we ask that you not wait inside the studio.
- Tuition: Our season will run non-stop from September through recital in April. (24-27 lessons depending on the calendar year and weather related cancellations) Tuition is due three times a year. There are no refunds for missed or dropped lessons.
- Pay TUITION ONLINE with credit card or ACH from our website.
- Courtesy reminders will be emailed two weeks prior, however, if the email does not reach you for some reason, tuition will still be due by the dates listed below. Tuition can be paid online, sent to class or mailed to: 526 LENTZ COURT, LANSING, 48917

- Third term-Due Jan 29-Feb 1, 2025
- Returned checks will be charged an additional $30.00.
- Late fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00) will be posted to any un-paid accounts beginning Nov 16 for second term, and on February 8 for third term. BE SURE TO INCLUDE LATE FEES WITH YOUR TUITION IF IT IS PAID AFTER THE ABOVE DATES.

- Discount Policy
- Student taking 2 or more classes: 5% off total tuition
- Family of 2 or more: 5% off total tuition (Immediate family living at same address)
- CLASSES: Classes will meet in person when it is deemed to be a wise decision by Rising Star Staff and in accordance with state guidelines. Classes will go to online Zoom meetings whenever deemed to be a wise decision by Rising Star Staff or in accordance with state guidelines. The tuition will remain consistent between both forms of class. There will be no refunds or credits when and if classes need to transition to online Zoom meetings.
- PLACEMENT is at the sole discretion of our staff. Placement is done by skill, NOT BY AGE, or because there is a friend in the class. If at any time we feel that your student needs to be transferred to a different class, we will call you. We always have our student’s best interest in mind, and place them where they will be able to learn and enjoy dance. Example: If someone has never studied ballet, they would be in a beginning ballet class (ages 5 & up) whether they were 5 or 10 years old. Please trust our recommendations.
- Recital: The studio holds a professionally run recital in the spring. The recital is optional, and there is an additional fee for the costume(s) and tickets. Attending dress rehearsal is REQUIRED to perform in the recital, no exceptions.
- TENTATIVE RECITAL DATES TO KEEP FREE ON YOUR CALENDAR: April 9-13, 2025. We will announce the confirmed recital schedule as soon as we have confirmation from our venue.
- Please: DRESS REHEARSALS ARE FOR DANCERS AND PARENTS ONLY! We would like our guests to see our recital, not rehearsal!
- Starlettes, Jr. Line, Adv Jazz/Acro, ALL Musical Theater, and Miss Lori’s ballet classes will appear in ALL dress rehearsals and recitals. If you enroll in one of these classes you are REQUIRED to be at ALL dress rehearsals and recitals-NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Costume ordering: Information and prices will be sent home at a date TBA. Please plan for this if you would like to participate. If you choose NOT to participate, you must email the studio by Oct 10th so we know not to order costume(s) for you.
- Rising Star reserves the right to alter scheduling in the rare event that the need arise. If at any time the enrollment in a class drops below a satisfactory number the class will be combined with the closest level class or cancelled.
- RECITAL MUSIC—we will email music to you as soon as we have editing complete.
- WATER ONLY allowed in studio. No gum, candy, or cell phones allowed in class.
- Rising Star reserves the right to refuse enrollment or services to anyone at any time.
- All students should demonstrate a helpful, positive attitude toward staff and students.
- MASK POLICY: We will transition between masks optional and masks required as we see fit throughout the season, depending on the ever changing situation. There will be no refunds for tuition, shoes, costumes, competition fees, etc. based on the mask policy.

At the WAVERLY studio, shoes will need to be paid for the night of fitting. CASH or CHECK only - no credit cards.
